A Double Platinum is the highest award possible in our business, and is a confirmation of the high quality of our wines.
Kirkland, WA (PRWEB) December 31, 2012
Northwest Cellars is proud to announce that they have been awarded a top distinction from the Pacific Northwest 2012 Platinum Judging for their 2009 Cadenza from Walla Walla Valley. With more than 550 entries from over 200 wineries, the Platinum Judging has helped to determine the finest wines produced in the Pacific Northwest for the past 13 years.
“We could not be more thrilled,” says Owner Bob Delf. “A Double Platinum is the highest award possible in our business, and is a confirmation of the high quality of our wines.”
The Platinum Judging was started by Wine Press Northwest in 2000 as a way to determine the best wines produced throughout the Pacific Northwest. The judging is done by first tracking more than 30 professionally judged wine competitions worldwide and selecting those wines from the Pacific Northwest that are awarded the most gold medals. Then, the wines are categorized and judged blind over three days by two panels of wine experts.
Medals are then awarded by receiving a majority of votes, with unanimous winners achieving the double platinum distinction.
The 13th annual Platinum Judging took place November 7-9 at the Clover Island Inn located in Kennewick, Washington.
Owner Bob Delf and winemaker Robert Smasne presented their 2009 Cadenza from Walla Walla Valley, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenere. This combination has yielded a high-quality wine that features the "flavors of plums, black cherries and dark chocolate with a powerful yet refined tannins, giving way to a memorable finish" (Wine Press Northwest).
This is not the first award for Northwest Cellar's, but it is their greatest. Launched in 2004, Delf's mission was first and foremost to produce and distribute high-quality wines while offering the option of custom designed labels. With two tasting rooms at their Spokane and Kirkland locations, Northwest Cellars hopes to continue accumulating accolades for the quality of their wine, as well as the uniqueness of their custom wine label program.
