Imprezzio Advises Business Owners To Maximize IT Investments By Choosing Technology Which Meshes With Existing Systems

For small businesses, hiring the right IT vendor can be crucial. Simply swapping out an old platform for a new one doesn't work.

Technology alone isn’t the solution to business challenges. It is merely the vehicle that can deliver solutions.

Software solution provider Imprezzio Inc. out of Spokane, Washington, has over 15 years' experrience in delivering technology solutions that increase business efficiency. They've seen technology promise much, then deliver little. This can be devastating to small businesses.

Business owners can increase sales, reduce errors, and make their companies more efficient, says Imprezzio President Russell Page in a recently-published white paper, but they must be smart about how they implement new technology.

"Technology alone isn’t the solution to business challenges," Page says, "It is merely the vehicle that can deliver solutions."

Page and Imprezzio's Chief Architect Neil Taylor, who co-authored the white paper, encourage businesses to hire IT companies that are conversant with best practices around software security, productivity, re-use, industry standards, and design.

With the amount of foreign and home-grown cybercrime these days, a business can't be too careful when it comes to data safety. Page and Taylor say that ideally, your IT team would have its own set of internal security requirements and a review process that applies the best practices of commercial software development; for example, separation of duties, random code reviews on projects, secure encryption, etc.

Workflow automation which enables staff to do more work in less time, freeing them to spend most of their time doing what they do best is another of the solutions found in Imprezzio's white paper. Organization can be one of the biggest workplace challenges, so it makes sense to try to provide these sorts of tools, Page and Taylor say.

An IT company that can draw on deep domain expertise in working with companies in the industry of the client business is a good choice, they add, recommending that businesses look for vendors who are willing to work with existing systems and the vendors you already have.

Familiar design is a plus because the learning curve is less steep, and people's natural resistance lower, the white paper states. Proprietary interfaces can also subject your company to potential knowledge vaccuums if there is staff turnover.

Increasing your business productivity through technology takes planning, organization and management, but it’s well worth it in the long run, the paper concludes.
