Retailer's entertaining expert offers tips for creating a classic, tasteful and festive party.

Z Gallerie, a family-owned retailer of stylish home furnishings, art and accessories, is the perfect place to shop for your New Year’s Eve party.

Hosts and hostesses everywhere will be ushering in 2013 by throwing a New Year’s Eve party. Z Gallerie’s Table Top Buyer and entertaining expert Rebekka Paynter has put together some tips for classic, tasteful and festive entertaining.

“The foundation of your gathering starts with having the right items to make the party feel special yet allows you to enjoy the event as well,” says Paynter. “I like to offer a selection of white wine early in the evening and top off the night with something bubbly. Put the white wine and champagne on ice in a large party tub like our Hudson Wine & Champagne Bowl and place flutes and wine stems close by so guests are able to help themselves.” Paynter recommends adding a bit of sparkle to the table with Z Gallerie’s metallic studded placemats and Montecito glassware.

“Serving an assortment of charcuterie and cheeses requires very little prep time, cleanup is a breeze and they are sure to please a variety of tastes,” says Paynter. “My favorite platform for cheese is our wood grain platter and matching spreader. The natural looking grain and finish make it a statement and conversation piece. If you're hosting a larger group, I would recommend using multiple Luxe silver chargers as platters.”

Paynter says that condiment displays can add to the table’s visual appeal and flavor. “I fill our Festa Appetizer Set with nuts, dried fruit or fig chutney, olives, grain mustard, and small grapes. Don’t forget a serving tray, such as the Luxe Rectangular Serving Tray in silver, for water crackers and a sliced baguette.”

As with any gathering the most important thing is to enjoy good friends and family.

"As 2012 comes to a close I will be sure to take a moment to appreciate those around me and all that I have," she says. "I also like to remind my guests of how much I appreciate having them in my life. One last hostess tip is to keep a list of taxi numbers handy in case someone needs a ride home. The well-being of my loved ones is always top of mind after a fun-filled evening. Happy hosting and cheers to 2013!"
