We received our first accreditation back in 1991 which was known as BS5750 at the time, a predecessor to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard. Having such a prestigious array of accreditation helps to reflect a professional attitude.

ReAgent, one of the foremost chemical suppliers in the UK, is hoping to achieve an ISO accreditation hat trick by the end of next year. Already accredited to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Standard, ReAgent recently began working towards ISO 18001 Health and Safety Standard.
ISO 9001:2008 is an internationally recognised Standard which sets out criteria for a Quality Management System, whilst ISO 14001:2004 is an internationally recognised Standard which sets out the criteria for an Environmental Management System. It is a requirement of both Standards to be audited at least annually with a renewal process every three years. This ensures that a Company retains its certification to the Standard and any of its amendments.
ReAgent Systems Manager Graham Bayliss says, “The requirements of ISO 18001 are similar to the others allowing integration with existing management systems. Although not generating business in its own right, it does show our commitment as a professional organisation and we feel it is necessary to remain competitive.”
ReAgent is a specialist manufacturing company based in the North West of England supplying customers UK-wide and overseas. The Company regularly undergoes audits from existing and potential customers, many of which are ‘blue chip’ organisations whose names are recognised the world over.
In order to achieve ISO 18001 accreditation a Company has to show that it complies with all relevant Health and Safety legislation. This includes:
The Health & Safety At Work Act 1974
The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
CHiP (Chemical Hazard Information and Packaging)
CLP (Classification, Labeling & Packaging)
GHS (Globally Harmonised System)
Electricity At Work Regulations 1989
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
The above list is by no means comprehensive – there is a lot more legislation which applies to UK chemical suppliers like ReAgent.
ReAgent Managing Director Richard Hudson adds, “We received our first accreditation back in 1991 which was known as BS5750 at the time, a predecessor to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard. Having such a prestigious array of accreditation helps to reflect the professional attitude and commitment we show towards our operations and customers. Also we are a recognised Investor In People (IIP) which shows our commitment to developing and maintaining a dedicated workforce. We are gearing ourselves up for growth and believe these accreditation's will help us continue to attract high-profile customers.”
