Midwest Building Materials Fabricator Now Using BuyDesign Product Configurator to Offer Dealers 24x7x365 Sales Capabilities

TDCI Inc. (TDCI), the leading provider of configurator-based software, announced today that Waudena Millwork, a wholly owned business of Wausau Supply, has launched new online product configuration, quoting and ordering capabilities for the company’s dealer network on the Waudena Millwork website (http://www.waudenamillwork.com). Using BuyDesign Configurator along with BuyDesign Channel Sales, Waudena Millwork dealers can now configure, price, quote and order products ranging from entry door systems to interior doors, clad garage door frames, prefinished moldings, stair parts, and more. Similar capabilities will soon be offered using BuyDesign for Wausau Supply’s vinyl windows, custom shutters and Diamond-Kote siding products.

BuyDesign is a comprehensive solution suite developed to streamline the sales process for customized products. BuyDesign helps companies that manufacture products with a wide range of features, options, and dimensions increase sales by becoming ‘easy to do business with’ while at the same time reducing order processing time, cost, and errors.

“With our new online product configurator, dealers can now quickly create accurate quotes and orders for all our custom products any time day or night, weekday or weekend” said Dusty Dvorak, Waudena Millwork VP of Sales. “All of our up-to-date product and pricing information is at their fingertips so there is never a need to wait for our customer service department to open. And there’s no more need for paper forms and faxes – it’s just a matter of configure, click and submit. This new capability gives our dealers a lot of flexibility and should enable them to handle greater sales volume in less time.”

The product configurator guides dealers through selection of available options, dimensions, trims and finishes, so every quote and order is complete and accurate. For instance, for entry door systems, dealers can specify the type of door slab, sidelights, transom, exterior trim, etc. to configure, price and quote a complete entry door system. The dealer can then print a customer quote document with MSRP or discounted prices, confirm the specs and sale price with the customer, and quickly convert the quote to an order. Since all order information sent to Waudena is electronic, there is no time delay and virtually no opportunity for errors caused by hand-written drawings, dimensions or specs.

The reaction from dealers has been very enthusiastic with comments like: “I can’t say enough about the new Waudena Millwork Product Configurator. I’m able to generate quotes for my customers from any location that has an internet connection. This is invaluable.”, “It allows me easy access to door configurations at the end of the day when I have time to sit down and get my desk work done. In this economy we do a lot more than just stand at the counter and place orders.”, and “I’m able to see any pricing changes almost immediately. This tool allows me to maintain efficiency and remain accurate even when the Waudena call center is closed.”

Wausau Supply is using BuyDesign with the Infor SX.enterprise ERP system. BuyDesign is replacing a PC-based tool maintained in-house by Wausau Supply IT personnel. “Besides eliminating the need for us to maintain software, BuyDesign makes it far easier to develop the product models and rules that drive the configuration process,” says Mike Stelzl, Wausau IT/Applications Manager. “It gives us the tools to facilitate collaboration among the business people, product experts and graphics people that make up the team for each product. And with BuyDesign, we can now implement a product change in a matter of minutes rather than the months it would take with the old system. That makes us far more responsive to the market.”

“Deployment of BuyDesign is part of our strategy to provide dealers and customers with the best value-added services in the industry in order to save them time and money, and to make it very easy for them to do business with us,” summarized Joe Jordan, Wausau Supply CEO.

Wausau Supply serves retail lumber yards from eleven distribution locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, and Kansas. It is among the largest privately held companies headquartered in Wisconsin. Learn more about Wausau Supply at http://www.wausausupply.com.
