Allowing 50 people to appreciate the tremendous benefit of visual freedom through LASIK was just our way of giving something back to our local community.
Smithtown, NY (PRWEB) February 01, 2012
Long Island’s most established eye center is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year by giving away one free LASIK procedure every week for the next 50 weeks, according to leading eye surgeon Jeffrey L. Martin, MD, Medical Director of North Shore Eye Care and son of NSEC founder, Dr. Sidney A. Martin.
North Shore Eye Care was founded by in Smithtown, Long Island by Dr. Sidney Martin in 1962. His goal was to offer local Long Island residents the same quality of comprehensive eye care found in the major medical centers around the country. During the past 50 years, his efforts have resulted in North Shore Eye Care becoming one of New York’s leading eye care providers. Today, they are the Official LASIK Provider of the New York Mets and the Official Eye Care Provider of the New York Islanders. They have also been voted “TOP DOCTORS” in the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly, an independent medical research firm.
“I’m obviously very proud of my father’s efforts all these years and to be associated with a group of eye doctors and team members who are dedicated to excellence in eye care,” said Dr. J. Martin. “People across Long Island have put their faith and confidence in our abilities over the years, enabling North Shore Eye Care to grow into one of the premier eye care facilities of its kind. Our goal is to ensure that our local residents are receiving the highest quality eye care available today and gaining access to the same advanced eye care found in major medical centers.” Today, North Shore Eye Care has offices in Smithtown, Riverhead, Holbrook and Deer Park.
Dr. Martin said the idea of giving away 50 free LASIK procedures to celebrate their 50th anniversary was twofold. “Allowing 50 people to appreciate the tremendous benefit of visual freedom through LASIK was just our way of giving something back to our local community,” he said. “The concept of giving away one per week allows us to remind Long Islanders of our 50th Anniversary throughout the entire year.”
