Nancy Reagan, Gloria Steinem, Mary Tyler Moore, Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Martha Stewart, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Dakota Fanning, Taylor Swift — all Girl Scouts! Celebrate the 100-Year Anniversary of Girl Scouts with LITTLE MISS MERIT BADGE, a new memoir which takes readers on a nostalgic, comical, bittersweet journey into accomplishment addiction.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts and Dr. Ronda Beaman has written a harrowing yet humorous coming-of-age story that examines the role being an over-achieving Girl Scout plays in a young girl’s desire to improve her life, feel loved, and be noticed.

“I was hooked by the age of six.” So begins LITTLE MISS MERIT BADGE (Wyatt-MacKenzie, Feb. 18, 2012). Ronda Beaman confesses her drug of choice was earning Girl Scout badges. Lots of them. And she never quite kicked the habit. This entertaining memoir follows the oddball adventures Beaman had earning her many badges as she explores the nature of resilience and the accomplishment addiction many young girls develop to compensate for growing up in a challenging environment.

Catherine Ryan Hyde, author of PAY IT FORWARD reviews, “LITTLE MISS MERIT BADGE is a warm and wise account of what it takes to build a life of merit and then pay it forward."

Barbara Hannah Grufferman, author of THE BEST OF EVERYTHING AFTER 50 reviews, “Beaman’s book proves you can have the best of everything, even in the worst of circumstances, if you are willing to work at it.”

Jerry Scott, syndicated cartoonist of "Zits" and "Baby Blues" reviews, “Ronda Beaman can sew the Laughter Badge onto her double sash of accomplishments. This book is funny, poignant and meaningful.”
