Geospatially-focused logistics and supply chain management company continues to provide valued Asset Management System services and support to U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command

AMS has reduced the turnaround time in which TACOM and other authorized stakeholders receive incident reports, analysis and other 'actionable information' previously not available, from over two months to just a few days.

Portal Dynamics, a provider of geospatial logistics, risk management and asset tracking solutions for defense and commercial organizations, announced today that it has signed a 3-year, $4 million contract renewal with the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for Asset Management System (AMS) development and support services.

“In choosing to exercise the Asset Management System contract renewal, TACOM has reaffirmed their long-standing trust in Portal Dynamics and in the value of AMS as a time-tested, proven Fleet Management solution,” said Robert Missig, Portal Dynamics Program Manager. “Before the implementation of AMS, the various fleet data was controlled by multiple OEM sources, in different locations and in various formats, making reporting and analysis difficult, time consuming and unreliable. AMS has dramatically impacted this process by returning primary control to the program managers, standardizing data collection, and accelerating the reporting and analysis cycles, while providing complete and accurate, near real-time visibility of TACOM’s vehicle data. AMS has reduced the turnaround time in which TACOM and other authorized stakeholders receive incident reports, analysis and other 'actionable information' previously not available, from over two months to just a few days.”

Portal Dynamics’ Asset Management System is a fleet management application that addresses the data standardization, collection and reporting requirements for the Abrams Tank, Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Paladin (Self-Propelled Howitzer Systems) fleet of vehicles. AMS is designed to be a single point of entry global application used for data collection that occurs throughout the entire life cycle for all Heavy Brigade Combat Team (HBCT) systems. The tool tracks assets (weapon systems), their configurations, locations in the field (in and out of field locations; in and out of Depot), and general operational status. AMS allows field service personnel to collect operational asset status and generate trending reports on multiple characteristics, including after action reports, engineering changes, field problems and part failures. These reports service the operational needs of both the Department of Defense and Portal Dynamics’ original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, such as General Dynamics Land Systems and BAE Systems, which access the process information via a secure online portal.

“With the global infrastructure and multiple data capture devices available, data collected in the field is available to decision makers faster and more efficiently, providing timely and accurate information for mission success,” Missig added.
Additionally, analytics modules enable fleet planning activities and the ability to ask multiple “what if” type projections of fleet status in the future (e.g. fleet age), based on multiple factors. Operators are able to access AMS via web, desktop or mobile applications. All interfaces have the ability to synchronize with each other so reports and data entry fields are consistently updated, allowing for issues to be quickly identified and resolved.
