“If you have a family with three or four kids, a private condo or with a kitchen and all the comforts of home is probably going to serve your better than a hotel, and it’s going to cost you a lot less too.

With the mid-February exodus to warmth and sun just around the corner, more travelers are seeking a winter respite this year than last, a sign that the troubled economy may be improving. While many northerners are still feeling the bite of a tight economy along with the bite of another frigid winter, more winter-weary vacationers are turning to the Internet and Vacation Rental Organiztion to find Florida vacation rentals priced low enough to make such a hiatus possible.

Ft. Lauderdale Vacation Rentals has created a site for travelers to find privately owned apartments, condos, and homes in the island city and surrounding areas, and rent them directly from the property owner. The newest trend in no-hotel accommodations is cost friendly for families and groups of friends looking to vacation affordably in Florida’s high tourist season.

Through Ft. Lauderdale vacation rentals, travelers can rent a five-bedroom estate home that sleeps eight, five minutes from the beach, or a beachfront bungalow for two, for a weekend or a week at rates well below those of area hotels. The added perks that come with a vacation rental in a private home, above and beyond the cost savings, is the kitchen, laundry, and in Fort Lauderdale usually a private pool, outdoor grill and all the amenities that go with staying in a private home.

A three bedroom, two bath privately owned duplex in nearby Hollywood Beach that sleeps eight can be rented for $215 per night, or $1395 to $1495 per week. A beachside studio cottage for two, with a full kitchen will run between $80 - $110 per night, or $420 - $600 for a week. And a two-bedroom, two bath luxury villa that sleeps seven in a quiet community of finger islands called Citrus Isles costs between $180 and $375 per night or $900 to $2250 per week, depending on when it’s occupied.

“We have found that more and more visitors are discovering Fort Lauderdale vacation rentals when they search online for an affordable alternative to a hotel,” said John Romano, founder of Fort Lauderdale Vacation Rentals.

“If you have a family with three or four kids, a private condo or with a kitchen and all the comforts of home is probably going to serve your better than a hotel, and it’s going to cost you a lot less too.

“Visitors are amazed at the value they find when they lose any preconceived notions about how much a beachfront vacation rental in Florida might cost when they start comparison shopping and look outside the box,” he said.
