More than 250 guests get first public behind-the-scenes look at home shopping network headquarters

As one of the largest private employers in Knox County, JTV’s success has an important effect on the regional economy.

Jewelry Television® (JTV), the nation’s largest shopping network dedicated exclusively to the sale of fine jewelry and gemstones, recently hosted members of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce for a Business After Hours networking event. Held Tuesday Jan. 31, the event provided more than 250 Knoxville-area chamber members an exclusive chance to tour JTV’s headquarters.

“We’re broadcasting on the air to more than 65 million viewers every day, but very few people actually get to visit our headquarters and go behind the scenes,” said Tim Matthews, CEO and president at Jewelry Television. “We recently completed an expansion and remodeling project and thought it would be a good opportunity to invite the business community to see what it’s like behind the scenes of a 24/7, 364 days per year business.”

During the event, the first time JTV has opened its doors to members of the community, Knoxville Chamber member guests were treated to cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres in the grand atrium while viewing jewelry and enjoying entertainment by the Mark Boling Jazz trio. Attendees were invited to tour television production sets, the control room, green room, merchandising areas, warehouse, and the call center.

"The Knoxville Chamber is grateful to JTV for sponsoring Business After Hours event," said Mike Edwards, president and CEO of the Chamber. "JTV is a fantastic corporate citizen that has chosen to remain here in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Innovation Valley despite offers to move to other cities. As one of the largest private employers in Knox County, JTV’s success has an important effect on the regional economy."

The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce representing more than 2,000 member businesses is under the direction of the 45 business leaders who make up its board of directors. Regular events include opportunities for furthering education, business development and professional networking.
