Dan Saffer Joins Smart Design’s San Francisco Office, Deepening Expertise and Expanding Design Offering

Smart Design hires Dan Saffer, acclaimed designer and author of "Designing for Interaction," to provide strategic and creative guidance for the company’s global clients.

Smart's tradition of improving everyday lives of people resonates with me. It's what I think design should do, and what good design is. As we approach the era of ubiquitous computing and smart networked objects, it's a message that's even more relevant.

Smart Design, a strategic design consultancy with offices in New York, San Francisco and Barcelona fortifies its expertise with the appointment of Dan Saffer, leading expert in interaction design to the post of Director of Interaction Design. Dan will provide creative leadership for their San Francisco office and the company at large.

As Director of Interaction Design, Dan Saffer will be helping Smart Design continue to enhance the way interactive experiences are designed and delivered. Smart Design’s San Francisco studio was founded in 2001. It is located at 4th and Bryant in San Francisco’s SOMA district and has worked with a wide range of clients including, HP, Microsoft, Cisco, Toshiba, Ford, UCB, Samsung, and Clorox.

Dan Saffer is an interaction designer, creative director, speaker and teacher, and the author of three books: "Designing Gestural Interfaces," "Designing Devices," and "Designing for Interaction." He is the Director of Interaction Design at Smart Design’s San Francisco office. Since 1995, he has designed devices, software, websites, and services, which are used by millions of people every day. He speaks at conferences and teaches workshops on interaction design all over the world.
