Popular “Get a Job” Workshops Scheduled in San Francisco for February

Career Insiders' low-cost workshops teach participants all the tools needed to invigorate a job search and land a job quickly.

At Career Insiders, Mauri Schwartz has been teaching people where to look for jobs and how to land them for over a decade. Back by popular demand are her highly effective instructional workshops that have helped attendees to achieve successful job search strategies and get the jobs they seek.

Even for those who think they already know how to play the game, the playing field has changed dramatically, and they need to learn new skills and concepts to gain the competitive edge over other job applicants. Spokesperson Fran Palumbo says these workshops are for people who

  •     are newly unemployed or unemployed too long and frustrated with their job search.
  •     whose resumes disappear into a black hole when applying online and calls for interviews are few and far between.
  •     are overwhelmed by the plethora of online job sites and social media venues or are struggling with the basics of resume and cover letter writing.

Enlisting the help of a seasoned professional, especially in the current job market, may be the best investment a job seeker can make in targeting a desired position and ensuring notice by the hiring manager.

According to Palumbo, the workshops will be presented in two-hour blocks, one per week, allowing ample time in between to put Schwartz' advice into practice. “Last year, the workshop series was repeated several times to accommodate high demand. Job seekers just can’t afford to go another day doing the same thing and getting the same disappointing results.”

  •     WRITE A WINNING RESUME (February 7, 6-8pm)

Most job applicants get screened out even before having the chance to interview. A resume is a marketing brochure, not a historical document, and it should focus on where one is going. This class will teach how to structure a resume to gain the 'inside advantage'.

  •     MAXIMIZE THE USE OF LINKEDIN TO GET A JOB (February 14, 6-8pm)

It’s just not possible to conduct a successful job search these days without knowing how to use LinkedIn effectively! It's not enough to post a resume on the Internet and wait for a response. This class will teach how to use free online tools to grab the attention of the hiring manager...which tools to use, how to use them and what to say.

  •     ACE THE INTERVIEW (February 21, 6-8pm)

Once the interview is scheduled, one must make sure to be fully prepared. If a candidate cannot interview effectively, her knowledge and work experience will go unnoticed. A less qualified applicant may get the job because of better interviewing skills.
