Divorce in today’s society is quite common. It seems that married couples jump in and out of love with ease. In Dr. Demetria Risper’s new book The Story of Spoon, Sweety, and the Four Miracles: God’s Plan for a Successful Relationship (published by WestBow Press) captures real-life experiences and provides good advice on keeping a marriage alive.
“I want individuals to feel good about themselves and others, knowing that God can touch and change any situation that is causing them difficulty,” Risper says.
The Story of Spoon, Sweety, and the Four Miracles explains how individuals can truly love others once they have accepted Jesus Christ. It shows how couples can balance careers and family, yet still find time for one another. It is Risper’s modest hope that her book will help save marriages, mend broken relationships and help individuals understand what it truly means to love someone.
An excerpt from the book:
It is not hard to follow a man who follows Christ, but in order to do so, you must also follow Christ. Jesus Christ must also live in you, and you must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Paul’s teachings in 2 Corinthians 6:14—16 encourages those who believe in Christ to associate themselves with others who also believe in Jesus Christ. The couple must be equally yoked in order for a marriage based on Christ to be successful. This means that both people in the relationship must trust and base their marriage on Jesus Christ.
“Loving your spouse and others is easy once you experience and accept the true love of Jesus Christ within your heart.”
