The interior design work and concepts of the hand-blown glass art from Bernard Katz Glass have been incorporated into the decor of the Fountain Restaurant, located in the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.
Patrons of the landmark restaurant may feast on the beauty of Katz's original sandblasted glass forms that revolve around the theme of "communication." Each piece, with its soft flowing simplicity, resembles people in conversation and creates interesting focal points throughout the restaurant.
One such piece, the "Shima," which is Navajo for mother and child, combines a soft spoken interaction between the glass forms. The gentle tea color of the pieces works seamlessly into the restaurant's dark wood environment.
"The simplicity within the forms gives the restaurant a contemporary feel without alienating its traditional roots," says Katie Katz, owner and business manager of Bernard Katz Glass.
Katz explains the Four Seasons contacted their studio wanting something that would contribute to the already exquisite atmosphere. "They felt that Bernard's work and his glass sculptures would be ideal," Katz says. "We appreciate their trust in allowing us to create from concept to completion the sculptural glass for the Fountain Restaurant."
