indeni support for Check Point Virtual Appliance helps businesses take full advantage of cloud computing in one comprehensive solution

Offering immediate support for the virtual firewalls securing the Amazon cloud is another step on our road toward universal coverage of network security and performance devices across the infrastructure.

indeni, the world leader in security infrastructure monitoring, today announced that its market-leading solution now supports Check Point Virtual Appliances, bringing proactive monitoring for network security to the cloud. Check Point recently announced a partnership with Amazon Web Services for supplying their Virtual Appliances to Web Services customers; so businesses hoping to extend their computing environment to the cloud using Amazon Web Services can now use indeni to attain deep visibility not only into multi-platform, multi-vendor security environments but now also into their hybrid or cloud-based infrastructure.

Check Point Virtual Appliance for Amazon Web Services lets organizations extend their security to the cloud using a virtual appliance—a security gateway for virtual environments in the Amazon cloud. Customers will be able to rent servers from Amazon and protect them using Check Point firewall solutions, all within Amazon’s data centers. indeni takes protection of this virtual environment a significant step further, by ensuring the continued stability and performance of the virtual firewall through the insight and protection provided by its next-generation, deep monitoring solution.

“We are simplifying life for our customers by adding support for virtual appliances alongside our comprehensive physical device coverage,” says Elad Ben-Meir, VP of Product and Strategy at indeni. “Customers who want to set up firewalls in the cloud, outside their own network, will need only a single instance of indeni to monitor firewalls inside their network as well as in the cloud, for a unified view and simplicity in detecting, troubleshooting and administration.”

This comprehensive support for firewalls—wherever located—acknowledges the growing importance of cloud-based services. Software as a Service (SaaS) and hosted databases are being increasingly embraced by businesses to cut costs and increase employee mobility. But as companies move away from physical connections and rely more heavily on remotely stored data and hosted applications, the absolute requirement continues to grow for a reliable means of securing the connection to the hosted service and ensuring the stability of that connection.

The advantages of having stable and optimally performing network security are readily apparent in any business setting. In a hosted environment, which relies so heavily on connectivity and network performance for its utility, such stability is all the more essential if cloud computing is to progress to its fullest potential. “Virtual firewalls ensure the remote data and service is safe from intrusion,” says Ben-Meir. “indeni’s deep analysis and monitoring of these firewalls ensures, to an unprecedented level, that they are consistently stable and performing optimally, and that they are not causing service or connectivity issues within the cloud environment.“

indeni’s capability in supporting Checkpoints Virtual Appliances – as well as support for virtual devices from other vendors (please see the list of devices supported under advanced monitoring for details) - also highlights the system’s forward-looking, robust design and the company’s determination to stay ahead of the market.

indeni has already broadened its advanced monitoring coverage to include Checkpoint, Juniper Junos and ScreenOS gateways, as well as the addition of Fortinet OS devices in the February 2012 version release. Over the coming months, the company plans to roll out further additions, including devices like F5’s load-balancers and RADware.

“It’s an exciting time for indeni,” says Ben-Meir. “Offering immediate support for the virtual firewalls securing the Amazon cloud not only lets us provide more comprehensive service to our customers, but is another step on our road toward universal coverage of network security and performance devices across the infrastructure.”
