A new benefit in Chicago will celebrate the art of improv and honor four individuals for their contributions, the first-ever Chicago Improv Fest Productions Gala will take place on Saturday, March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Athenaeum Theatre located at 2936 N. Southport Avenue in Chicago. The gala will be capped off with an improv jam emceed by Mark Sutton featuring actors Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Ike Barinholtz and Jon Barinholtz.

Chicago Improv Fest Gala honorees currently scheduled to attend include:

  •     Ensemble of the Year Award to Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele (Comedy Central’s new series 'Key and Peele' and 'MADtv' alums)
  •     Lifetime Achievement Award to Dan Patterson (Creator/Producer 'Who's Line Is It Anyway?')
  •     Spotlight Award to Alan Barinholtz (Chicago Improv Fest Board Member)

Prior to the awards ceremony and Main Stage performances, attendees will enjoy mingling with Chicago improv performers in the Lobby of the Athenaeum Theater. For a small donation, attendees may get a psychic reading from Jimmy Carrane; a personalized song created and recorded on their mobile phone by Keith and Tinz; and witness improvised magic from Justin Purcell and Alex Young. The ticket also entitles gala guests to passed appetizers, adult beverages and bidding on enticingly exclusive live and silent auction items, including a Chicago Blackhawks jersey signed by All-Star winger Marian Hossa.

Co-chaired by David Fink and Claire Geall-Sutton, Chicago Improv Fest Productions Gala raises money to support programs like the 15th annual Chicago Improv Fest, taking place April 23-29, 2012.
