We are pleased to be collaborating with Lombardy Street Partners, Grant Architects and the University on a project which brings needed bedrooms to the under-served Virginia Union University campus.

Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in civil engineering and professional consulting services, announced today that the firm has teamed with Grant Architects, a national design expert in urban student housing communities, for a 33 unit, 100 bedroom, privatized student housing project at the Virginia Union University campus in Richmond, Virginia.

The project is being developed by Lombardy Street Partners, LLC, led by Willie Lanier, Jr. and Sr. This by-design student housing includes ample amenities including a clubroom, fitness facility and courtyards and will serve the school and help to begin revitalization along a neglected urban corridor in the City of Richmond.

“Willie Jr. at Lombardy Street Partners grew up in this community and is looking forward to bringing positive change to the currently disused location of this particular project,” said Stuart Toraason, PE, Project Manager with Timmons Group. “We are pleased to be collaborating with Lombardy Street Partners, Grant Architects and the University on a project which brings needed bedrooms to the under-served Virginia Union University campus.”

Timmons Group has submitted a Special Use Permit application to the City as the first step in the process. Discussions will continue upon further review by the City and neighbors. The firm is providing civil engineering, land surveying and geotechnical services for the project which is slated to open in winter of 2013. Timmons Group has previously partnered with Grant Architects on similar student housing projects in the City of Richmond including 8.5 Canal and 1200 Marshall Streets.
