Plymouth Meeting, PA (PRWEB) February 03, 2012
Health Advocate, Inc., the nation’s leading healthcare assistance and advocacy company, has been selected by Highmark Inc., an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association based in Pittsburgh, to provide services for Highmark’s myCare Navigator. myCare Navigator allows members to call a Personal Care Advocate 24 hours a day seven days a week with health-related issues.
"We are pleased to offer our personalized health advocacy service to support Highmark members helping them get to the right place at the right time," said Michael J. Cardillo, President, CEO and cofounder of Health Advocate, Inc.
“Highmark understands that our members are often overwhelmed with the healthcare system, and we want to be able to provide them support to get the care they need,” said Steven Nelson, senior vice president of health services strategy, product and marketing at Highmark. “Our market research showed that 92 percent of members were interested in using a service like this, which said to us loud and clear, ‘we need help.’”
myCare Navigator will help Highmark members with a variety of healthcare related issues, including finding doctors, and specialists, scheduling doctor appointments, transferring medical records across providers and helping members understand all of their benefits.
“We understand that the healthcare system can be very complex,” said Cardillo. “Allowing Highmark members to have full access to a Personal Care Advocate at any time can have great value because it saves them time and money and allows them to take full advantage of their healthcare benefits,” said Cardillo.
Highmark members will have access to their own Personal Care Advocate, typically a registered nurse supported by a team of benefits professionals and medical directors who have extensive experience with the “ins and outs” of the healthcare system.
