Our Heart To Yours

Belk is proud to partner with the American Heart Association in an effort to educate customers and associates on the importance of leading healthier lifestyles.

Belk is painting its stores red during American Heart Month in February as part of its annual storewide “Our Heart to Yours” campaign. The campaign is being conducted in partnership with the American Heart Association and its My Heart. My Life. initiative to promote health, wellness and fitness and increase heart disease awareness and education.

Belk stores in 16 states across the South will host a variety of in-store events and activities, and the “Our Heart To Yours” website (Belk.com/heart) will offer an online interactive heart health educational experience throughout the month.

“Heart disease is the leading killer of women in America, and Belk is proud to partner with the American Heart Association in an effort to educate customers and associates on the importance of leading healthier lifestyles,” said Jon Pollack, Belk, Inc. executive vice president, sales promotion, marketing and e-commerce. “Each year, Belk strives to create more awareness and more education for heart health, and we’re excited to join forces with such a tremendous organization in an effort to extend this important message in our stores and on Belk.com.”

Throughout the month of February, Belk stores will host activities and events designed to increase awareness of heart disease and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. An informational landing page on Belk’s website, Belk.com/heart, will feature an interactive heart score quiz, personalized healthy living plans, a list of ways to get involved in the campaign and an online donation link. Customers will also have the opportunity to make donations in each of the stores.

All money raised through Belk’s in-store efforts will support the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. initiative aimed at helping Americans live healthier lives.

In-store events and activities include:

February 2012:
Wall of Hearts – With a donation of $1 or more, customers can show their love to a friend or family member with a personalized paper heart that will be displayed throughout the campaign on the store’s Wall of Hearts.

February 3:
National Wear Red Day – Stores will showcase a special display of red dresses and signage about the campaign. With a $1 donation to the campaign, customers receive three single item 20 percent sale/clearance coupons. Event runs Thursday, Feb. 2 – Tuesday, Feb. 7.

February 4:
Heart Health Awareness Day – Each store will have different activities including blood drives, mobile heart health trucks and health screenings focused on heart health awareness, education and prevention. Please contact your local Belk store for more details.

February 21:
Healthy Living Appreciation Day – With a donation of $1 or more and/or participation in in-store activities, customers will receive 20 percent off regular and sale merchandise with limited exclusions. Please contact your local Belk store for more details on in-store activities.
