...fundraising your pants off since 2010.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 07, 2012
This Saturday, 3,000 runners will strip down to their undies and run around in the cold to raise awareness for the Children’s Tumor Foundation in the third-annual Cupid’s Undie Run. The race has grown from a Washington D.C.-based race to a cost-to-coast event adding five new cities including; New York, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Denver and Seattle.
Participants are on pace to raise $200,000 for the Children’s Tumor Foundation – the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to ending Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes painful and debilitating tumors that grow on nerves throughout the body. All proceeds raised by race participants are donated to the foundation.
"Currently, there is no cure for Neurofibromatosis and very few treatment options, making events like the Undie Run important for furthering research,” said Bobby Gill, co-founder and Director of National Expansion. “It’s humbling to see the Cupid’s Undie Run go from a group of friends to a national event. It means we are not only achieving our fundraising goals, but also our effort to raise awareness for this debilitating disease."
All six cities are expecting impressive numbers despite the dropping temperatures each with their own local celebrity runners including;
- The famed Washington Nationals Racing Presidents in DC
- US Army Major Colin Cremin, Silver and Bronze Start and multiple Purple Heart recipient, will be participating in Denver’s inaugural sold-out run
- In Seattle, Mrs. Pacific Northwest, Larissa Long, and Mrs. Washington, Jessica Riggs, will be running past the famed Stalin statue in downtown Fremont, which may end up sporting its own bedroom finest
- Atlanta’s Undie Run will feature former NFL players and brothers Matt and John Stinchcomb, who’s young cousin suffers from NF
Cincinnati and NYC also offer opportunities for those with a strong connection to NF an opportunity to raise further awareness and funds for the Foundation.
The DC and Denver races are currently sold out, but there are still opportunities to cheer from the sidelines. To register, please visit http://www.cupidsundierun.com.
