Fire Maple Games released its mobile puzzle-adventure game, The Lost City, last week to the Apple App Store, Android Market, Amazon Appstore and NOOK Apps, and it is racing up the charts on all platforms. Joe Kauffman of Fire Maple Games created The Lost City with Ansca Mobile’s Corona SDK, the same mobile development platform he used to create his previous hit game, The Secret of Grisly Manor.
The Lost City takes players on a trip through a mysterious world filled with addictive challenges and eye-catching scenery. The beautifully styled puzzle-adventure evokes the gameplay of the classic Myst with its wide array of puzzles, high-quality graphics, and immersive storyline. In less than a week, the game has so far reached as high as the following positions on the paid app charts:
- #1 overall on the UK Apple App Store
- #1 overall in the Canada Apple App Store
- #2 overall on the Amazon Appstore
- #6 overall on NOOK Apps
- #27 in games and #35 overall in the US Apple App Store
Fire Maple owner Joe Kauffman, a one-man game studio, is no stranger to independent app success. His previous game The Secret of Grisly Manor has over 1 million downloads in the past year on iOS and Android, and continues to be a mainstay on the charts in the Amazon Appstore. As an independent developer, he says much of his success is facilitated by Corona SDK and its ability to let him focus on his apps’ gameplay and overall quality instead of overly obtuse coding.
“With The Lost City, I wanted to build an epic-length, heavily detailed game that would have a lot of life – something that game players would keep on their devices for a very long period of time,” said Kauffman. “I worked for almost a year building The Lost City. Who knows how much longer it would have taken without Corona!”
Ansca Mobile co-founder Carlos Icaza said Joe Kauffman’s talent for making quality games speaks for itself, and Ansca is honored to be the platform on which The Lost City is built. “Our goal is to empower developers to make the best possible games and apps by giving them an easy to use, yet powerful, platform,” said Icaza. “Talented people like Joe have taken this mobile app platform and built an amazing array of chart toppers. We are proud to be associated with them.”
The Lost City is available now in the Apple App Store, Android Market, Amazon Appstore and NOOK Apps. Corona SDK is free to use for unlimited trial, with subscription options when developers are ready to publish their apps.
