RivalRompers announces the release of What’s It Called? University of North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball iBook by John Beausang & Mia Bosna narrated by Woody Durham for the iPad through Apple iTunes.

The iBook version of the popular hard cover book teaches kids about the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, landmarks on campus, the basics of the game of basketball and most importantly, how to cheer for the Carolina Tar Heels. The book includes a newest Carolina Basketball Fan Pledge, which is a promise to cheer for the Tar Heels as long as they shall cheer for basketball, and ends with the school songs, I’m a Tar Heel Born and Hark the Sound.

“Hearing Woody’s voice narrate this iBook might be even more exciting for the parents and grandparents,” says John Beausang, RivalRompers CEO. “Here’s the long-time voice of the Tar Heels reading to our kids and asking them questions about basketball and the Tar Heels. It’s a lot of fun. Tar Heel fans are going to flip at being able to have Woody Durham teach their kids how to cheer for the Tar Heels.”

“The iBook was designed so parents or grandparents can either read through each section on their own, or have Woody Durham read it to them,” says Mia Bosna, RivalRompers Creative Director. “There is also an option to touch text in some areas to hear individual words being read by Woody Durham.”

“We chose the iPad as our first iBook launch because Apple reported sales of 15.4 million iPads in its recent quarterly filing,” says Gus Franklin, RivalRompers CFO. “You can’t go anywhere without seeing someone carrying around an iPad. And kids are already used to interacting with this new medium. Having Woody’s voice available really brings our books to life.”

The iBook is for children ages 0-5 and is available for $9.99 through Apple iTunes for the iPad: http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/whats-it-called-university/id495886611?mt=11&ls=1. After purchasing the book, fans can find it on their Apple bookshelf on the iPad. The iPhone version and animated iPad Application will be available in the next few weeks.

What’s It Called? University of North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball is an officially licensed product by the Collegiate Licensing Corporation. A portion of the proceeds goes to The Woody Durham Distinguished Professorship Fund.
