NJ Environmental Firm Ahead of the LSRP Curve

Brownfield Science & Technology, a small environmental consulting firm, is ahead of the new LSRP regulations hitting New Jersey.

In 2009, New Jersey’s environmental community saw sweeping changes in the way contaminated sites were regulated when Governor Jon Corzine signed the Site Remediation Reform Act, (SRRA) into law. The SRRA provided authority to certified environmental consultants (known as Licensed Site Remediation Professionals, or LSRPs) to make key decisions for site remediation and close out cases by issuing Response Action Outcome (RAO) letters. This effectively replaces the oversight role previously played by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). By May 2012, all owners of contaminated sites must hire a LSRP to comply with SRRA and avoid potential fines.

While many are scrambling to meet the deadlines, one small company, Brownfield Science & Technology, Inc. (BSTI), an environmental consulting firm in New Jersey, is already leading the way.

What’s so special about BSTI? “It’s all about our culture,” says NJ Operations Manager Jonathan Lisko, LSRP. “There’s a void of trust between business owners and the environmental consulting community. BSTI employees live and work in the same communities as our clients. We have a home grown interest in helping their businesses succeed.”

As the LSRP program was evolving over the past three years, BSTI was already fast-tracking Response Action Outcome (RAO) letters and closing cases for their clients. BSTI is ahead of the game, and business owners all over New Jersey are taking notice. BSTI grew by over 40% in 2011 and expects similar growth in 2012.  To keep ahead of the customer demand, BSTI continues to hire environmental experts in both their New Jersey and Pennsylvania offices.

Brownfield Science & Technology has been in business for 13 years and is committed to the idea that customer service is just as important as technical expertise when providing sustainable environmental solutions. BSTI are environmental consultants serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware. They offer services in the areas of environmental assessment, remediation, consultation and research.
