Leadership skills are invaluable and applicable across a range of fields, so we’re excited that students beyond the geographical confines of our campus will now have access to this innovative leadership degree program.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (PRWEB) February 08, 2012
Our Lady of the Lake University announces the launch of its Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) online degree program. Prospective students can choose from two specializations: Leadership or an interdisciplinary track. The Leadership specialization offers students in-depth study of leadership techniques and strategies, while the interdisciplinary track offers the opportunity for a more expansive perspective of organizational leadership, allowing students to select supplementary courses within the Business Administration, Sociology and Social Work programs at OLLU.
With a curriculum developed around the concepts of servant and ethical leadership, OLLU’s program is grounded in a practitioner-scholar approach, teaching students theories of leadership as well as their real-world applications. Students will learn how to research and analyze statistical data and develop their strategy-building skills, exploring the ways in which businesses function within their industries. The program also provides courses in key leadership concepts, such as critical thinking, multicultural and gender issues, the social context of leadership and intra- and inter-organizational structures, offering all MSOL students a well-rounded online educational experience.
A master’s degree in Organizational Leadership is an advantage for career advancement in a wide range of industries and fields, such as the military, education, health care, and human resources. Potential opportunities for graduates include jobs as human resources managers, who earn an average $105,500 per year, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS); as labor relations specialists, with the BLS estimating this field will grow by 24 percent by 2018; and other high-level managerial and executive positions.
“Our Lady of the Lake University’s MSOL program is structured to build a community of learning and support, and this will continue to be true for our online students,” said Robert Bisking, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business and Leadership. “Leadership skills are invaluable and applicable across a range of fields, so we’re excited that students beyond the geographical confines of our campus will now have access to this innovative leadership degree program. No matter what career path our students decide to take, our curriculum will ensure they are prepared with the necessary knowledge and leadership skills to help them succeed professionally.”
The online MSOL program consists of 36 credit hours for completion, with 12 credit hours spent on the specialization. Individuals interested in applying to the MSOL program must have a baccalaureate degree and a satisfactory score on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
