Sanford Health and Architecture Incorporated announced today that the Sanford Children’s Clinic in Duncan, Oklahoma has been awarded LEED® Certified status. This certification is established by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

Sanford Children’s Clinic in Duncan achieved LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. By using less energy and water, LEED certified buildings save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.

“Sanford Health recognizes the important connections between our environment and our health. We are excited to have achieved this certification, now meeting our community’s needs in more ways than one," said Nathan Kraft, Construction Manager for Sanford Children’s Clinic.

Sarah Aldinger, Principal Architect at Architecture Incorporated, was the architect on the clinic. “We were able to use recycled materials for over 20% of the total materials content by value, utilize 15% regional materials, reduce potable water usage by over 40%, and improve the indoor environmental quality by increasing ventilation and using low emitting materials.”
