Campbell & Company proudly announces Dr. Mahmood Moshfeghian’s and Dr. Khashayar Nasrifar’s paper publication, “Multiphase equilibria of waxy systems with predictive equations of state and solid solution model,” in the Journal of Fluid Phase Equilibria. The paper highlights Moshfeghian’s extensive investigation into thermodynamic properties as it pertains to Process Engineering and the oil and gas industry.
“Multiphase equilibria of waxy systems with predictive equations of state and a solid solution model” is one of many technical papers published by Dr. Moshfeghian. He also authors most of Campbell’s Tip of the Months and develops most of their technical software as well.
According to Dr. Moshfeghian, the paper explains how “A thermodynamic model is developed to predict the vapor–liquid, solid–liquid, solid–vapor and solid–liquid–vapor equilibria of systems containing methane with waxy components. The model takes the advantages of equations of state to describe the vapor and liquid phases. The solid phase is described by Coutinho’s activity coefficient model, i.e., the solid phase is assumed to be orthorhombic solid solution. Impact of pressure on the solid phase is included by coupling solid–liquid Clapeyron relationship with Poynting correction factor. While no adjustable parameter is used, the model satisfactorily predicts the phase boundaries of the synthetic and real systems resembling gas condensate mixtures for wide ranges of pressure and temperature.”

Mahmood Moshfeghian is an Instructor/Consultant with John M. Campbell & Company, Norman, Oklahoma. He has 35 years of teaching experience in many universities. Previous to joining John M. Campbell & Company, Dr. Moshfeghian was a Senior Research Scientist at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research and Professor of Chemical Engineering at Shiraz University, where he also served as Department Head and Associate Dean of Research in the College of Engineering. He has also held the position of Dean of the College of Engineering at the Persian Gulf University and was previously a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Qatar. Moshfeghian holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He is a senior member of AIChE.
