Noted online dating expert and author, Jennifer Kelton, explores what really goes on when you click the option "Open to Casual Sex" on an online dating profile. The experiment on her site, BadOnlineDates.com, provides a hilarious way to highlight the troubling problems many women face when exploring online dating.

Online dating is a tricky business. While 17% of couples marry, many more encounters start with, "Text me a picture of your panties."

"Text me a picture of your panties," was the message noted dating expert Jennifer Kelton received almost immediately. It was just the beginning of a multi-week experiment into the throwing caution to the wind and clicking "open to casual sex" in her online dating profile.

Online dating is a tricky business. While Match.com claims that 1 in 5 U.S. singles have dated someone they met through online dating and 17% of these couples marry, many more encounters start with messages like the one above.

"I already received messages like this and even worse with my regular profile," said Kelton. "So I wanted to see what would happen if I just opened up the floodgates."

Kelton, founder of BadOnlineDates.com, the only website devoted entirely to online dating support, is in the midst of launching her Date Detox Day on February 15. Kelton says of both the experiment and the event, "I'm tired of unrealistic expectations with dating. It's hard to meet the right person, offline or online. And with Valentine's Day coming, I want to give the Internet a dose of reality, help them laugh about the craziness and lead them to make smarter dating decisions."

The "casual sex" experiment is just one of many explorations of post-Valentine's cheer the site has planned for the day after Valentine's Day. But it is one of the boldest. Kelton says, "I'm getting some pretty suggestive stuff. I won't expose these individuals, of course, but I can't wait to share some of these interactions with the community."

BadOnlineDates.com claims to be, "Making Dating Smarter," a vision they approach aggressively. While most other sites have a mission of connecting lovers, BadOnlineDates.com connects people for advice and affirmation about dating. This educational and support-focused twist occupies a unique and complementary place among dating related websites.

"We want people to know that they are not alone when online dating," said Ms. Kelton. "Laughter and fun are a big part of what we offer, but our real mission is to give people the confidence to demand better treatment when looking for love."

Founded in 2005, BadOnlineDates.com is the leading website for total dating support. Providing advice, entertainment, tools and community, the site helps online daters make better dating decisions.
