TEN has created the perfect platform for the energy industry's mission critical data...
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) February 09, 2012
Texas Energy Network, LLC ("TEN"), a leading edge provider of broadband service to the oil and gas industry, announced today the expansion of its Permian Basin 4G LTE network into Andrews, Martin, Glasscock, Gaines, Winkler and Dawson Counties. The network buildout, to be completed this spring, adds 3,748 square miles to TEN's existing coverage bringing total coverage to 4,823 square miles.
James P. Shearburn, Vice President of Sales for TEN noted, "This Permian Basin network expansion is fueled by customer demand. It gives broadband access to 140 drilling rigs, 13,273 active wells, 1613 injection wells, 1488 tank batteries and several thousand operating vehicles."
TEN has combined 4G LTE, licensed 700 Mhz spectrum and patent pending customer premises equipment to provide best in class service to the energy industry. Allen Shipman, Vice President of Operations for TEN commented, "Our experience in Andrews over the last several months gives us the confidence that we can provide best in class service to the energy industry."
LTE ("Long Term Evolution) is a standard for wireless data communications technology and an evolution of the GSM/UMTS standards. The LTE specification provides down-link peak rates of 300 Mbit/s, uplink peak rates of 75 Mbit/s and QoS provisions permitting round-trip times of less than 10 ms. LTE has the ability to manage fast-moving mobiles, and support for multi-cast and broadcast streams. The architecture of the network is simplified to a flat IP-based network architecture called the Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The simpler architecture, among other aspects of LTE results in lower operating costs and a vastly improved user experience. Combined with 700 Mhz spectrum and patent pending oilfield access devices, TEN has created the perfect platform for the energy industry's mission critical data coming from rigs, offices, tank batteries and the like.
