A new online seminar titled “What’s New in SQL Server 2012?” will be offered by SetFocus March 27-28, 2012. The seminar, taught by an 8-time .NET/SQL Server Microsoft MVP, will review the new functionality of SQL Server 2012 and include demonstrations, walkthrough and code and database samples.

One of the most difficult challenges when a software vendor releases a new version of a major product is discovering all the new features, especially some of the less-publicized ones.

Microsoft Certified Partner, SetFocus, has been working with the early beta versions and technology previews of SQL Server 2012 and has synthesized all the new functionality into a two-day seminar featuring demonstrations, walkthroughs and code and database samples. Presented by Kevin Goff, SQL Server/BI Practice Manager for SetFocus and noted author and industry speaker, the seminar offers rich, practical content to help SQL Server professionals from OLAP developers, to data warehouse professionals to Business Intelligence developers, understand the most important features and functionality of the new release.

Goff states, “One of the most difficult challenges when a software vendor releases a new version of a major product is discovering all the new features, especially some of the less-publicized ones. Trying to learn the full value of the product might mean reading several books, blogs, and magazine articles. Most people don’t have time for that.” Goff adds that a consistent theme throughout the seminar will be feature-packed and content-rich examples, intended to accelerate the learning curve in discovering all that SQL Server 2012 has to offer.

According to SetFocus President, Jerry Masin, “SetFocus continues to help IT professionals stay abreast of changes in key technologies through our in-depth Masters Program classes, free training courses and special seminars.    This SQL Server Fast Track Seminar is another step along the pathway of learning, growth and job sustainability.”

Day One of the seminar will focus on the new database management engine features, column store indexes, new Transact-SQL language features, new geospatial features, and new functionality in SQL Server Integration Services.

Day Two will focus on the new Analysis Services tabular model (and also compare it to the traditional SSAS/OLAP model), the new features in PowerPivot 2.0, the new Power View report authoring tool, and the changes in Reporting Services integration with SharePoint 2010.

The seminar will be presented via Microsoft Live Meeting and attendees will have the option to attend one day or both. An early-bird discount is available until March 1st. Register at http://whatsnewinsqlserver2012.eventbrite.com.
