YMCA of Pawtucket Annual Meeting Honors Community Members

YMCA of Pawtucket introduces the board of directors' new president and recognizes members' community service.

The Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, RI, was the setting for the 122nd YMCA of Pawtucket’s annual meeting, sponsored by Navigant Credit Union. This year’s annual meeting focused on the great strides that have been made to improve the lives of those in need; honored staff and community members for their tremendous dedication to the Y; and, highlighted the exciting future of the MacColl YMCA expansion project.

Gary E. Furtado, Chief Executive Officer of Navigant Credit Union, was presented with the 2011 Spirit Award in recognition of his commitment to the YMCA of Pawtucket and to furthering the overall mission of the Y. Additionally, Kevin Tracy was recognized as the 2011 Volunteer of the Year for his assistance in helping the YMCA with fundraising and other complex financial matters.

In addition, Esselton “Ess” McNulty, General Director of the YMCA of Pawtucket, had the honor of introducing the new president of the Board of Directors, Antonio Pires, and thanked outgoing president Susan Reed for her exceptional leadership. Several key staff members were also recognized for their years of service to the YMCA of Pawtucket. Bookkeeper Patricia Chavier celebrated 30 years at the Y, and information coordinator Gayle Harrison commemorated 35 years of service.

“We are so grateful to our staff members and community partners for everything they do to promote and exemplify the values and principles of the YMCA of Pawtucket,” said Esselton “Ess” McNulty. “It was a difficult year for many people but especially for those in the communities in which we serve. Now more than ever, we need to improve upon the great strides that have been made to enhance the health and wellness of all families through innovative programs and access to vital services.”
