David Carani, takes home first place prize of the 4th quarter of the international contest and wins himself a ticket to Hollywood.

David Carani of Chicago will be honored in Hollywood" at the 28th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement awards being held on Sunday, 15 April, 2012 at the famed Ebell Theater.

The event will celebrate the annual winners in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests, where David was the 1st quarter, first place writer winner for this year, making it further than some several thousand others who entered the international competition. His winning story will also be published in the bestselling Science Fiction anthology series – L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXVIII.

Other winners this year will be flown in from Australia, Canada, England, Sweden and across the USA. They will also receive a week long workshop taught by contest judges, all bestselling authors themselves and led by Tim Powers, author of On Stranger Tides.

The intensive mentoring process has proven very successful. Past winners of the Writing contest have won hundreds of awards and 8 of them have gone on to become New York Times bestsellers. No other contest in this or any other genre have those kind of statistics.

The Contest was initiated by L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 shortly after returning to the field of science fiction with his bestseller Battlefield Earth.
