The Collier Companies Expands Real Estate Portfolio
GAINESVILLE, FL.— The Collier Cos. and a joint- venture partner finalized the purchase of Polo Club in Tallahassee, Fla. and Polo Club in Athens, Ga. on Jan. 26, 2012.
“The Collier Cos. is excited to obtain two well-built, well-located assets in towns that boast prestigious universities, a diverse history and good fundamentals,” said Aaron Harden, deal manager for Collier Enterprises, the asset management subsidiary for The Collier Cos.
The two assets were purchased from Barrett Properties. The Polo Club communities expanded The Collier Cos. portfolio to approximately 10,500 units and more than 24,000 bedrooms.
The Polo Club Tallahassee, which is 99 units and 351 bedrooms, was built in 1997 to house Florida State University students. The Polo Club Athens is 168 units and 576 bedrooms, and it was built in 1996 to house students of The University of Georgia.
“We are excited for the new possibilities and believe our expertise in student housing will provide a unique and pleasant experience for our new residents,” Harden said.
