RiverPlace Hotel, with its fantastic location along the water and access to outdoor recreation embodies the essence of Portland. With our focus on bringing the local flavor of every city to each guest experience, it’s a perfect fit for the Kimpton brand.
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) February 10, 2012
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants expanded its collection in Portland this week with the purchase of the award-winning RiverPlace Hotel and Three Degrees Waterfront Bar & Grill. Kimpton acquired the hotel with its KHP II private equity fund. The 84-room boutique hotel and picturesque restaurant are the sixth property Kimpton has purchased with KHP II. Others acquired via the fund since its close in 2008 include the Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, Hotel Monaco Baltimore, Hotel Palomar Philadelphia, Hotel Palomar San Diego and the Hotel Palomar Chicago. RiverPlace Hotel is Kimpton’s third Portland hotel, joining the Hotel Monaco and the Vintage Plaza.
Perched on the historic Willamette River, Portland’s only riverfront hotel is a natural urban retreat. Spacious rooms and a warm inviting décor promise a soothing respite, highlighted through personalized service that Kimpton guests know and love.
The RiverPlace Hotel offers a resort-lodge feel with plush guestrooms full of four diamond comforts, natural light streaming through large picture windows and sweeping views of the water.
The hotel’s design will be refreshed to give the RiverPlace Hotel that signature Kimpton look and feel. These changes include new artwork in the guestrooms, as well as new pillows and bed throws that embody the comfortable elegance and chic style of Kimpton hotels.
Long-term business travelers and families alike can enjoy 10 one-and two-bedroom suites, complete with full kitchens, wood-burning fireplaces and balconies overlooking the Willamette. The hotel includes more than 4,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including a private room in the restaurant.
The breathtaking view from Riverview Courtyard is an ideal space for outdoor receptions.
“Portland was Kimpton’s first market outside of San Francisco, so it’s a place that has always been important to the company,” said Mike Depatie, CEO, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “The RiverPlace Hotel, with its fantastic location along the water and access to outdoor recreation embodies the essence of Portland. With our focus on bringing the local flavor of every city to each guest experience, it’s a perfect fit for the Kimpton brand,” said Kimpton CEO Michael Depatie. “And as an investment, it’s even better – prime riverfront real estate with a high barrier to entry due to limits on new construction.”
The RiverPlace Hotel’s theme of tranquil escape comes from many inspirations, including the adjacent full-service Point Spa, striking mountain vistas, a complimentary bicycle rental program and access to the waterfront path along the river.
“The prime riverfront location is a main reason this hotel has become the first choice for leisure travelers,” said Depatie. “Now that our Portland collection includes a hotel on the water, we can appeal to clientele who seek a place with great scenery and leisure activities that make this a true destination city.”
RiverPlace Hotel will offer all the signature Kimpton programs such as the hosted evening wine reception, animal print robes, Guppy Love (in-room goldfish upon request), Kimpton InTouch loyalty program perks, pet-friendly practices and Kimpton’s EarthCare program, which includes more than 100 eco-friendly operating practices.
