Docner Software Starts Making Open Source Big Data Web Applications for Brazilian Customers

A Big Country has Big Amounts of Information!

How to store billions of documents in one searchable database so you can find them in an instance ?

Docner Software, based in Fortaleza, Ceará, creates applications that do just that, using a cluster of affordable linux machines running open source technology. Starting February 2012, they are offering this service for Brazilian companies.

Imagine the questions that you can answer if you would be able to analyze all news items from all newspapers or from all websites about an industry. Imagine how business would change when you could simply add all administration, logistics, sales and production data to one database, link it with location data, run analysis on it and make it easily accessible for employees, partners or customers. The amounts of data are so big that most think this is impossible or too expensive to do.

Recent Big Data technology and cloud services change that. Because of 2 reasons:
1. Big Data technology removes the dependency on one central database; making it possible to use very cheap machines, license-free, in a reliable way. Instead of using one really big central server which must then also be very expensive to guarantee that it does not break down.
2. Cloud services make it possible to use cluster capacity from any external provider and to increase and decrease that capacity overnight

Docner Software is a Brazilian cloud software company producing BigData cloud software based on free open source libraries; to be precise: based on Hadoop and HBase. Until now, Docner has worked exclusively for european clients, but starting February 2012 Docner is offering their service in the Brazilian market.

"We think that Brazil needs access to license-free, high quality software for big volumes of data. A big country has big amounts of information! I would say, build more data infrastructure with less investments and go for high-quality Open Source." (Wiebe Ruiter, Docner Software)

The open source Hadoop and Hbase technology is being used by big internet companies for a couple of years. Yahoo created Hadoop and HBase; and right now, also Bing and Facebook are using it.

"I like developing using Hadoop and HBase; it has replication of data built-in and you can turn off machines without losing anything. I have more control of the way that I store my data and how I can retrieve it fast." ( Wilson Barros, Docner Software)

Docner Software has an experienced Hadoop and HBase team ready to start creating Big Data for Brazil today. The website is and you can read more about the technology they use at
