Since 2005, state-specific legal forms have been available at libraries across the country through a continuing joint venture by U.S. Legal Forms, Inc. and Gale, part of Cengage Learning, whereby Gale licenses, markets and distributes the U.S. Legal Forms subscription product FormsPass to academic, public and school libraries under the name 'Gale LegalForms.'

Our continuing joint venture with Gale puts our FormsPass subscription service in the hands Gale’s experienced staff who understand the library market. The benefits ... for libraries and the public are self-evident.

U.S. Legal Forms, Inc., the pioneering national provider of online legal forms and products, announced today the renewal of an ongoing agreement with Gale, a leading publisher of research and reference resources for libraries, schools and businesses and part of Cengage Learning. Through the joint venture, Gale licenses U.S. Legal Forms’ FormsPass Legal Forms Libraries, and markets the product to libraries nationwide branded as "Gale LegalForms."

The plan grew from both companies' recognition of the public’s growing demand for everyday access to legal forms and has been a tremendous success with subscribing libraries in nearly every state across the country. The FormsPass database powering each state’s selection of "Gale LegalForms" is customized with forms complying with the laws of each state and routinely updated to reflect the latest changes.

U.S. Legal Forms CEO, attorney Frank Edens, said, "Public libraries have been interested in meeting their patrons’ need for legal form access for some time. Our continuing joint venture with Gale puts our FormsPass subscription service in the hands of Gale’s experienced staff who understand the library market. The benefits of the venture for both companies have been outstanding; and the benefits for libraries and the public are self-evident. We are delighted to announce the renewal of our agreement with Gale."

Gerry Sawchuk, publisher, public library solutions at Gale, said, “Every day, citizens turn to their local library for help researching all types of questions, and they often need access to legal information. 'Gale LegalForms,' while not a substitute for professional legal advice, can provide answers and access to the information they need - whether it be a basic matter like developing a will or more complicated research on law definitions.”
