New Breed of Android Apps Possible Says SlickDev Labs

SlickDev Labs enables Android developers to create apps that connect to serial devices over USB for the Galaxy Nexus and Android Tablets.

According to Steve Sun, marketing manager at SlickDev Labs, a new niche of android apps is now possible. With the Slick USB to Serial Library, android developers can now create apps that communicate with serial devices with integrated USB or hooked up to serial to USB adapters.

"With the plethora of serial devices out there, the possible app ideas using this library is vast," says Steve. In recent months, developers have already begun creating apps for several unique uses including reading flight avionics, interfacing with home automation/security sensors, and integrating pinpad/card acceptance terminals.

Steve also touted their own general use terminal app (that uses the Slick USB Library) that many network administrators have utilized to connect with Cisco routers and switches, alleviating the need to carry around a heavy laptop.

The introduction of SlickDev Labs' products into the Android market has been well received. As one satisfied customer comments from the Android Market, "I fit the IT profile, where I'd like to use my tablet for connecting to the console of many devices (switches, disk arrays, etc.) without having to lug around the laptop. This app works great out of the box - I'm looking forward to the development and future versions!"

"I can't wait to see what other great app ideas other Android developers come up with in the future," says Steve.
