In my experience, the key to a successful implementation is the understanding of the longer term vision.

Pharma IQ, a division of IQPC, announces the 10th Forum on Laboratory Informatics, being held March 26 to 28, 2012 in Boston, MA.

With new systems and licenses emerging on the market, laboratory professionals and scientists are striving to efficiently manage and retain data for meaningful purposes. With more and more companies going paperless - many of whom are now moving toward LIMS and ELN selection and implementation – the pharmaceutical industry faces subsequent issues of interoperability between systems, selecting the right system, training staff, regulatory oversight, cost and more.

Some of the more pressing informatics issues that arise are addressed at the Forum, including:

  • methods for management of data in a methodical way
  • proper implementation of software packages with maximum efficiency
  • complexity of integrating systems –challenges and possible solutions
  • how to reduce validation problems

Speaking to the issues that arise in the implementation process in a recent interview, Steve Hartsock, Business Analyst at Amgen, noted, “In my experience, the key to a successful implementation is the understanding of the longer term vision.” He goes on to discuss what is needed for defining that vision in the implementation process in the full interview here:

The 10th Forum on Laboratory Informatics provides a venue for the industry experts to share their views on the challenges and the solutions to the problems faced in the laboratories and other issues related to the implementation and integration of laboratory informatics systems.
