SNG helps clients maximize benefits of broadband with new solution based on Birst’s business intelligence technology.

Birst, Inc., the leading provider of agile business analytics, today announced that Strategic Networks Group (SNG) is helping clients maximize benefits resulting from their broadband investments using a new solution built leveraging Birst’s industry-leading business intelligence (BI) technology. The easy-to-use, online solution, named Digital Economy Analytics Platform (DEAP), is based on data from SNG’s Digital Economy Database, a unique, proprietary dataset of research from all over the world that provides unmatched insight into the impacts of broadband utilization.

“With this new solution from SNG, regional leaders can identify and leverage the best practices from each region and industry across their territories. Unmatched in its depth and breadth, DEAP helps our clients to uncover actionable information and insights,” said Michael Curri, president and CEO of Strategic Networks Group. “With Birst’s functionality, we’re able to protect our valuable data assets by providing information to only authorized users, sharing results without revealing the data they’re based upon, limiting access to competitive intelligence and maintaining the confidentiality of our respondents. These capabilities are all show-stoppers; we couldn’t have moved forward without them.”

SNG is a group of broadband economists that develop strategies to help businesses, communities, regions and states more effectively leverage their broadband investments. Prior to developing DEAP, SNG reported its findings and recommendations to clients in highly detailed, static reports of more than 100 pages. Clients invariably posed additional questions that required more rudimentary tools to produce supplementary reports in a time-consuming, cumbersome process. In its effort to build an online solution that would replace this reporting process and provide clients with easy access to information and analysis, SNG evaluated a number of potential BI partners and discovered that most offered only limited capabilities for analyzing internal business processes. Birst’s agile BI technology, however, can perform extensive internal analysis, and also be used as a platform to build applications that provide analytical insight to external clients.

Working with Birst, SNG has transformed its valuable data resources into DEAP, a fully-branded, single sign-on (SSO) solution. By embedding Birst’s technology in its solution and leveraging Birst’s BI expertise, SNG was able to develop DEAP at a fraction of the time and cost required when using traditional, on-premise BI technologies. This allowed SNG to continue to focus its resources on its core mission—helping clients to optimize their broadband utilization. DEAP displays 150 predefined reports across two dashboards that are organized into pages focusing on various topics, such as connectivity, utilization, and impacts. To provide extraordinary flexibility, DEAP also allows SNG clients to analyze any of the 400 data fields in SNG’s data set.

“By creating solutions based on Birst’s BI technology, organizations are able to maximize the value of their existing data resources, quickly bringing to market products and services that drive revenue and enhance customer satisfaction,” said Brad Peters, CEO of Birst. “At Birst, we build, maintain and constantly work to add new, cutting-edge capabilities to our agile BI technology so that our partners and customers don’t have to. We focus on BI so that they can focus on building their businesses.”
