MN Business Builds on Madame Noire’s Leading Position among African-American Female Readers and the Success of the Highly Popular “She’s the Boss” Web Series

Moguldom Media Group, the leading digital media company that develops premium online publishing brands serving African-American audiences, today announced the launch of MN Business, a savvy, tech-oriented channel on dedicated to news, trends, and insight for African-American leaders in corporate America and in small business. The channel builds on the success of the original Madame Noire web series “She’s the Boss” as well as the site’s strong position as a leading website for African-American women.

The launch of MN Business addresses powerful trends in American business: the high rate of entrepreneurial activity among women of color, as well as the rapidly growing buying power of African-American consumers. As of 2008, there were 1.9 million firms owned by women of color, including African-Americans, Asians, and Hispanics. Meanwhile, African-American buying power is projected to top $1.1 trillion by 2012 (Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia).

In spite of this large and growing economic influence, the African-American business community has traditionally been underrepresented in traditional media—especially when it comes to female entrepreneurs and business leaders. MN Business will step in to fill the need of these readers for news and information keyed to their concerns, challenges, and opportunities. The channel will provide lively, in-depth coverage of African-American careers, business trends, entrepreneurs, tech news, media/industry news, and personal finance. Going far beyond the content available elsewhere, MN Business is now the go-to channel for female movers and shakers in African-American business and small business.

MN Business launches from a strong position as part of the well-established Madame Noire brand and online destination. As one of the leading websites targeting African-American women, reaches 1.3 Million unique visitors (Google Analytics). Madame Noire’s rapid growth has been fueled by the popularity of its unique mix of news, lifestyle, entertainment, and business coverage tailored to the interests and perspectives of African-American women. Last summer, the site launched “She’s the Boss,” an original web series featuring an intimate view of the day-to-day activities of leading black businesswomen as well as interviews and practical advice to inform and inspire viewers.

“The popularity of ‘She’s the Boss’ confirmed our instinct that there was a large audience craving smart, savvy business content tailored to African-American women,” said Rahwa Asmerom, Deputy Editor, Madame Noire Business. “We’re now building on this success by greatly expanding our coverage of business and entrepreneurship in a channel that gives African-American women everything they need to stay on top of the latest trends and developments in this thriving area—with the unique blend of style and sensibility that only Madame Noire can provide. MN Business will be an entertaining, informative, and highly productive part of our audience’s day, and we’re excited to introduce it to the world.”

MN Business has been created on the foundation of the former, a Moguldom Media Group property which achieved a reach of up to 375,000 unique visitors (Google Analytics).
