The Wells Fargo Tower has long been the ‘Kings Row One’ of office buildings for attorneys. Dozens of outstanding lawyers who work regularly with us, and others we frequently litigate against, are in that building, said Managing Partner Malcolm Segal.

Segal & Kirby LLP, a well-known boutique litigation firm, has relocated to 7,500 square feet in the Wells Fargo Tower after more than 20 years at the same location on L Street. Regarded as one of the premier white collar crime firms, Segal & Kirby’s law practice is particularly busy due to a bad economy which translates into mortgage fraud, tax and other business related investigations, and its civil litigation practice has grown more complex.
“The Wells Fargo Tower has long been the ‘Kings Row One’ of office buildings for attorneys. Dozens of outstanding lawyers who work regularly with us, and others we frequently litigate against, are in that building,” said Managing Partner Malcolm Segal. “It was time for us to be in the mix.”
Segal, managing partner of the firm has been recognized for 20 years in Best Lawyers in America and Northern California Super Lawyers for his white collar criminal defense practice, which he began after service as First Assistant United States Attorney in this District and after many years as a prosecutor in New York City; Austin, Texas; and San Francisco.
His partner Jim Kirby, also known for his motion and appellate practice, has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America and as a Super Lawyer as well for his civil litigation skills, particularly in representing outstanding law firms and attorneys throughout California. His writing ability was honed during his years of service as a law clerk in federal court in Sacramento. Kirby is a long-time member of the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court, which fosters civility and professionalism in the practice of law.
The firm, which practices in the areas of white collar crime and complex civil litigation has several well seasoned and one new Associate, Emily Doringer, who has been selected as a rising young star in Super Lawyers.
The firm’s sense of humor and passion for art remains intact during the move to the new space. Segal said that the firm’s three new conference rooms have been officially named and formally labeled “Larry, Moe and Curly” and, instead of the usual law firm plaques and diplomas, the offices will be decorated with compelling ceramic statues and local art collected during the firm’s years of practice.
