This is a very exciting time to be joining BearingPoint. There is serious work to be done before all insurers are ready to meet the Solvency II compliance framework, but bravery at this stage will reap rewards as the market continues in this upward cycle.
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 14 February 2012
BearingPoint today announced the appointment of Christopher Ling as Head of Insurance in the UK. He joins from Ernst & Young’s Insurance advisory practice.
In his new role, Christopher will focus on joining business and technology - in particular helping clients with their digital strategies and associated IT transformations, both to grow revenues through better customer management and to meet the reporting and compliance challenges related to Solvency II and IFRS.
Christopher has over 18 years experience in the insurance industry. He has worked within the market leading AVIVA’s UK Marine underwriting business and latterly AVIVA’s e-Business strategy globally, as a consultant with pwc and most recently Ernst & Young.
Commenting on the appointment, Jonathan Charley, Partner, BearingPoint said: “The insurance industry in the UK is facing a unique set of challenges in 2012. The looming regulatory changes coupled by difficult market conditions, make the future uncertain. The winners will be those that find a way to harness these market conditions to streamline their service offerings, manage their risk and update their underwriting systems.
"Solvency II should be embraced, and used as a blueprint for building a better business model rather than simply a compliance headache. Chris Ling brings with him the perfect mix of industry experience and technical knowledge to enable our clients to become winners in this environment, and we welcome him to the team.”
Christopher Ling added: “This is a very exciting time to be joining BearingPoint. Despite the losses of last year and the sluggish economy, we are starting to see an upturn in the market, which will create real growth opportunities for the more agile insurers. BearingPoint’s market leading capabilities both in Revenue Growth and Financial & Solvency II reporting, perfectly meets the market’s current needs. In particular, I believe that BearingPoint’s Abacus and HyperCube technologies can make a real difference to client’s performance.
"There is serious work to be done before all insurers are ready to meet the Solvency II compliance framework, but bravery at this stage will reap rewards as the market continues in this upward cycle.”
