Building a track that raises the bar in a sport full of adrenaline junkies is no easy feat, but Randy Poulter has done it with Underground MX Park.
Kemp, Texas (PRWEB) February 15, 2012
More than 500 motocross racers, along with families, friends, and fans from throughout the United States are expected to converge on East Texas at the end of this month when the Loretta Lynn’s South Central Area Qualifier comes to Underground MX Park in Kemp, Texas, Feb. 25-26.
Riders from throughout Texas and surrounding states, as well as serious motocross racers from across the nation, have discovered this relatively new track, which is located on 75 acres of shady east Texas ranch land, less than an hour south and east of Dallas.
As a new track on the racing circuit, Underground MX Park will debut nationally with the Area Qualifier. Owner Randy Poulter is not shy about his desire to host even bigger races, like the National Championships. As part of that goal, he’s building out Underground MX Park to be a state-of-the-art facility, not only for motocross riders, but for the family members and friends who travel with them.
For racers themselves, it’s all about the dirt, and racing experts say that couldn’t be in better hands. For more than ten years, Poulter has been one of the most sought after Motocross, Supercross and Arenacross track builders in the country. With Underground MX Park, he says he’s attempting to raise the bar for tracks everywhere, with the goal of putting new energy into the sport.
With the mild Texas winter and a track in what he’d call “almost perfect” condition, some of the best riders in the nation have inquired about the qualifier. Some have already made their way to Kemp. Practice weekends now attract between 75 and 100 riders both days, and word about the track is traveling fast.
On race weekend, Poulter says riders have a chance to advance to the next level of competition. Top finishers at the race will go on to compete in the Loretta Lynn’s Regional for a chance to race for a national title at country music legend Loretta Lynn’s famed Tennessee ranch.
Building a track that raises the bar in a sport full of adrenaline junkies is no easy feat, but Poulter cleared 25 acres of dense woods, dug a 40 foot deep pond, and built the AMA certified Motocross track, as well as a pro level Supercross track designed for training and competitions for professional and top amateur riders. He recently finished a pee wee track for the youngest riders.
By the Area Qualifier, Underground MX Park will have a concession stand, 23 full service RV sites, a restroom and shower facility, and plenty of space designated for tent camping.
“This is a family facility, and people like coming here and finding it’s clean and there are services available. Motocross riders will drive all day to get to a track they like. We get people from all over Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma every weekend. Last week we had pro riders staying here training on our Supercross track and shooting some videos. There’s always something going on,” Poulter says.
For the area qualifier, racers are expected to begin showing up Thursday, Feb. 23. Track practice will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, and racing will commence on Saturday morning, following 9 a.m. track practice. A full day of racing is scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.
Fans who want to experience a major Motocross Race firsthand will pay just $5 a head on race days to watch. The Underground MX Park is located between Kemp and Seven Points, Texas, on County Road 3396, four miles west of State Highway 274, Visit http://www.undergroundmxpark for more information.
