Toronto, CANADA (PRWEB) February 24, 2012
Futurestate IT Inc., provider of leading SaaS-based Application Currency Management™ platform, AppRx, is pleased to announce that one of the largest business law firms in Canada, Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, has selected AppRx to manage corporate application currency and compatibility. Cassels Brock will use AppRx to monitor and test its applications to ensure they are up to date and compatible with ongoing changes to their IT environment.
Cassels Brock is a Toronto-based law firm of more than 200 lawyers focused on serving the transaction, advocacy and advisory needs of Canada’s most dynamic business sectors. As a leading law firm, they actively explore and deploy new technology solutions to enable their lawyers to deliver the best service possible to their clients.
“Companies continuously struggle to keep their corporate applications current and compatible with each new OS and software platform release” said Alex Topitsch, CEO at Futurestate IT. “We are thrilled to have Cassels Brock as a new customer and to help alleviate the effort and risk involved in managing and monitoring ongoing application currency.”
AppRx enables companies to automate the monitoring of applications and receive notification when they are falling out of date, support ends, updates are available, etc., in order to keep applications current and adaptive to IT change. In doing so, AppRx enables IT to free up resources to focus on more complex work while providing peace of mind that the application portfolio lifecycle is being closely watched.
“We fully understand the importance of keeping applications current. Companies that do regular updates avoid greater risk and cost in the long term” said Ivano Stellato, Director of Technology at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. “AppRx provides a powerful yet simple solution for managing risk and minimizing costs, while also enabling us to free up our resources for new, value-add projects.”
While the Cassels Brock network is currently on Windows 7 with a fully virtualized back-end, other organizations can use AppRx for the automated testing of applications for Migration to Windows 7, XenApp or other platforms. The solution examines each application to determine if a vendor upgrade is available, if the application is compatible with the target platform ‘as is’, or if / what remediation is possible to enable it to run. AppRx can also test the impact on applications of patches, service packs and software upgrades before rolling them out.
“Using AppRx to test compatibility of our applications with XenApp saves us valuable resource time by automating the test process and providing us with detailed remediation reports in just a matter of minutes. Our goal is to have a nimble technology platform for our lawyers and our clients. AppRx helps us in this regard,” said Mr. Stellato.
