The fact that Josh Jackson Co-Founder of one of the most respected music magazines in the world (Paste Magazine) named them the best live act of SXSW 2011 speaks for itself.
Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 15, 2012
Hello Somebody, a Dallas based organization that supports multiple humanitarian campaigns, along with Kammok an outdoor recreational gear and equipment brand based in Austin that supports Malaria No More through direct product sales will host the event March 9, 2012 to honor Malaria No More and their steadfast commitment to fight malaria.
“2011 was an incredible year for us at Hello Somebody. We are more than excited to put on an amazing evening for the city of Austin with our good friends at Kammok that will benefit and honor the work and commitment of Malaria No More to end malaria deaths in Africa. We are fresh off of a trip to East Africa and are beginning to understand the hardships of living with the threat and struggles of the deadly, yet treatable disease.” Manny Martinez, Co-Founder of Hello Somebody
Malaria No More is working to make sure that every family in Africa has ready access to the tools they need to prevent, diagnose, and treat malaria. Malaria No More joins with African leaders in all sectors of society to engage audiences with a locally-driven message and change the way African families think about malaria.
Seryn, one of America’s brightest indie bands, cracked the Paste magazine top 50 albums of 2011 with “This Is Where We Are” in the 34th position. Opening for Seryn will be Austin’s own Lamar Stockton and the Mourning Doves, a country/folk band that is made up of some of Austin’s brightest emerging musicians including violinist Brian Batch from Alpha Rev. Ryan Edgar, an emerging talent from Dallas will be opening the evening. Ryan appears on the Hello Somebody compilation album that features The Rocket Summer, The Almost, and other national artists.
"I am extremely excited to showcase the musical talent of Seryn out of Denton, TX. I was fortunate enough to watch them perform multiple times in 2011 and each time their majestic sound blew me away. The fact that Josh Jackson Co-Founder/Editor-in-Chief of one of the most respected music magazines in the world (Paste Magazine) named them the best live act of SXSW 2011 speaks for itself. I know that with Seryn, Lamar Stockton and Ryan Edgar we will have a packed house to honor and share about the work Malaria No More is accomplishing in Africa." Ty Clark Director of Marketing/Giving, Kammok
Hello Somebody and Kammok will be selling products during the event with a percentage of profits being donated to Malaria No More. There will also be product giveaways throughout the evening, featuring Hello Somebody’s fashionable watch collection that in 2011 were worn by celebrities, musicians, artists, and nationally recognized leaders as well as Kammok’s Roo (camping hammocks) that have been featured in numerous internationally recognized e-zines, blogs and news sources throughout the last year.
The event is on March 9, 2012 in the CTC International Garden at 1102 East Caesar Chavez in Austin, TX. The doors open at 7pm and the music will go from 8pm until 11pm. This event is sponsored by Hello Somebody, Kammok, Hops and Grain Brewery, 360 Vodka, and Cazamance Cafe.
