Whether it's an impression, an original character, or just a dialect, Hersh imbues his performance with an empathy and humanity that transcends impersonation. It's unique. It's powerful. It's a voice worth listening to.

Raging Artists, Inc., has formally added voiceover to its roster of services. “As we evolved in terms of content creation, two core competencies stood out,” explained CEO and Head Writer Justo Diaz. “One was comedy writing, and the other was voiceover work.” Consistently tapping into the voice talents of CCO Hershel Rephun as a vehicle for comedy, it became clear to the company that both writing and voicing could become services unto themselves (http://ragingartists.com/2012/02/voiceover-reel/).
As an advertising and marketing executive, Rephun has been called upon to serve as the voice or face of brands such as BEARPAW Footwear and Sportie LA. After years of lending his voice talents to many projects, he is "going public." "Hersh’s ability to perfectly capture the essence of any accent or dialect impresses clients and friends alike, so it’s natural for them to call on him for help," said Diaz. "It's not always in a formal way. People know he's incredibly talented and just call him to step in whenever a dialect or character is needed."
"Justo provided the impetus several years ago when he wrote a commercial requiring me to do a bunch of impressions," Rephun recalled. "I resisted - in spite or because of my ego - but he pushed me and here we are." Created for Sportie LA and featuring heritage brand PF Flyers, "Goodfellas Cast Party Video" simulates a lost casting tape in which a single actor auditions for the Joe Pesci role, reading the lines as famous actors of the day such as Al Pacino, Dudley Moore, Mickey Rourke, Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, and Pesci himself. The video helped Sportie LA dominate the first page of Google for the term "Sneaker Videos" and rose to the top of search engines for "Goodfellas Cast" as well.
"Hersh's ability to pinpoint what makes any unique voice entertaining is our competitive advantage," said Diaz. "Whether it's an impression, an original character, or just a dialect, Hersh imbues his performance with an empathy and humanity that transcends impersonation. It's unique. It's powerful. It's a voice worth listening to." Diaz points to a bit from Rephun’s stand-up act that imagines Scarface as a Gay Comedian. "Other people do Scarface," he said, "but no one else approaches this level of difficulty or makes it this funny."
"We're just opening the door to sharing Hersh with the rest of the world - professionally," Diaz concluded. "Often when I'm writing, he'll say something in a dead-on genius voice and I'll think ‘Dammit. I wish he was getting paid for that.’ As a professional voiceover artist, Hersh will dominate.”
Rephun and Raging Artists have signed on to provide voiceover and production services for an undisclosed technology client with a new software product launching in late March.
About Raging Artists
Raging Artists is a creative content and marketing firm with writing at its core. The artistic soul suffers in “normal society” so it is fitting that RA embraces the kindred spirits of tragedy and comedy. We convert pain into entertainment - we call it enterpainment. There are no boundaries within these walls, only sledgehammers aimed at preconceptions. In the world of the raging artist, a CEO is a Head Writer, a CFO is an Actor, the CCO is a Voiceover Artist -- and everyone is a comedian, compelled to stand up for his or her convictions and get down with their tragic yet beautiful selves.
