Our ten year anniversary is a celebration of all of these people coming together to make an independent show happen. Together we've been fighting the power for the last ten years and the establishment better watch out, because we're just getting started.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 14, 2012
On February 14, 2012, The Young Turks Network celebrates its 10 year anniversary. Over the past decade, The Young Turks have continually informed hundreds of millions of viewers and listeners across the globe on the latest issues trending in politics, pop culture, lifestyle and sports.
The Young Turks transcended platforms to become the largest and longest running daily Internet show accumulating over 670 million views on YouTube since their launch in 2005. Today they average over 30 million views a month.
Producer and Host Cenk Uygur says, “Our ten year anniversary is a celebration of all of these people coming together to make an independent show happen. Together we've been fighting the power for the last ten years and the establishment better watch out, because we're just getting started."
The Young Turks are one of the only shows that have bridged the gap between Internet, radio, and most recently, cable television when the show was picked up by Current TV in December 2011. Created by political commentator and media juggernaut, Cenk Uygur, The Young Turks originally premiered as the first original talk show on Sirius Satellite Radio in 2002. Over the years, The Young Turks have hosted guests including Senator John Kerry, NBC’s Brian Williams, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, President Jimmy Carter, former chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan, and current Republican Presidential hopeful, Congressman Ron Paul.
The Young Turks is the flagship show of the TYT Network—a network that has expanded to include a range of online news shows covering politics, pop culture and lifestyle including: What the Flick?!, TYT Sports, TYT University, TYT Interviews, TYT Shows, The Top Vlog, and most recently The Point.
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary, filmmaker Andrew Napier captures Cenk Uygur through candid eyes in his upcoming documentary which features the creation and evolution of The Young Turks. The film chronicles everything from Cenk’s arrival in America from Turkey at the age of 8 to his decision to quit his job at a law firm to start a public access television show. This show gave way to a radio broadcast from his living room which slowly transformed into the The Young Turks and led to the founding of the TYT Network.
The Young Turks will premiere the documentary trailer and dedicate their 10 year anniversary show to their fans and contributors on February 14, 2012.
As The TYT Network continues to expand, they remain an innovator—on the cutting edge of the convergence of television and the Internet.
