Mobile users can now sponsor a child, engage in the fight against global poverty and encourage their friends from their mobile devices using a new app from Mission of Mercy and Brushfire, the leading innovator of mobile, web, and social solutions for charities.
Originally conceived by the child sponsorship organization, Mission of Mercy, One Child is the first app of its kind to offer mobile child sponsorship. This is a major innovation for the organization and for the cause of children around the world. Now you can access information about your sponsored children on the go and stay connected by writing letters to your sponsored child from your phone! Share updates about your child with friends, get updates from your child's local community, and find creative ways to engage in the battle against global poverty - all from the palm of your hand.
"After working at a child sponsorship organization for many years and personally visiting children in the same situation as the children this app can help, I am particularly excited about the opportunity for this app to benefit the most vulnerable children around the world," said Loren Kutsko, CTO of Brushfire. "We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity," added Brushfire's President and Founder, Gabe Cooper, "it’s a privilege helping organizations like Mission of Mercy leverage technology to help end poverty. We hope, like with all of our products, that by providing revolutionary and beautiful tools, these organizations will be able to accomplish their critical goals more quickly."
Mission of Mercy President, Mark Plumier says, “Effective Child Sponsorship ministry depends critically upon the connection between the sponsor and the child. Brushfire helped us bring that dream into a reality and puts that connection in the palm of the sponsor’s hands. We are finally able to bring our sponsors to the front lines of poverty relief – in a very focused, personal manner. The cutting-edge style of the app will inspire younger, more tech savvy sponsors to help free our children from the bonds of poverty and oppression.”
New child sponsors are often drawn to organizations at large concerts or events. Unfortunately, the process of walking to the back of the event venue and standing in a long line to fill out paperwork drains much of the enthusiasm from the sponsorship process. Now, interested donors will be able to pull the phone out of their pocket on the spot, select among the hundreds of currently available children, and make their commitment to sponsor without leaving their seat.
