The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) has extended the late entry deadline for its annual International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA®) to Feb. 24. For over 30 years, IDEA has recognized design excellence in products, sustainability, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts. This year, IDSA introduced six new categories to IDEA: digital design, social impact design, bathroom, spas and wellness, gardens and outdoors, kitchens, and living room and bedroom. Again, this year, The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mich., will house the winners in its permanent collection to portray the story of American innovation.
Started in 1980, the IDEA program fosters business and public understanding about the impact of industrial design excellence on the quality of life and the economy. The Henry Ford houses IDEA winners in its permanent collection to continue to tell the story of American innovation. Curve magazine, Core 77 and Yanko Design are IDEA 2012 media sponsors.
