Northern Virginia Lions to Host Community Service Events in the Fredericksburg Area

On Saturday morning, February 25, 2012, the Lions will volunteer their services at various venues in the Fredericksburg area such as the Area Food Bank, Salvation Army, SPCA, Head Start, Heartfields Assisted Living, and Micah’s cold-weather shelter to name a few.

District Governor Dennis Kelly stated that every Lion Knows our Organization's motto is "We Serve". There is no better way to show our dedication to our organization's motto than to provide service.

On Friday, February 24, 2012 the Lions of 65 clubs from Arlington to Colonial Beach will gather at the Hospitality House and Conference Center, 2801 Plank Road, in Fredericksburg, VA, for a membership reception and karaoke evening. The following morning, the Lions will kick off a massive Service Event involving more than 150 members fanning out to 17 community service organizations throughout the Fredericksburg/Stafford area. Anyone interested in learning more about the world’s largest service organization is welcome to attend any or all of these events.

The membership reception, part of the District 24A Winter Conference, will take place Friday evening from 6 to 7 pm in Shannon’s Grill in the hotel and will be followed by a fun-filled karaoke evening from 7 to 10 pm in the Palm Room. Participation by the community is encouraged. Please come and hear about the excellent work the Lions are doing in the local communities and to see them display their whimsical talents as they gather for fun and service.

The Lions motto is "We Serve." The District 24A Sight and Hearing Van will be giving free eye and hearing screenings at the Stafford Junction Health Fair at the corner of Routes 1 and 17 near the Falmouth Bridge. Lions will meet and leave from the conference center at 7:45 am. Lions of Northern Virginia invite you to join them for a morning of "CELEBRATING SERVICE" by sharing service.
