Echo is the only platform that provides an end-to-end solution that integrates real-time, social functionality across the entire user experience. That’s why three of the top four social TV brands as reported by AdAge are Echo customers.

Echo, a real-time web platform provider, announced today the one-year anniversary of its flagship product, Echo StreamServer. Twelve months after its launch in February 2011, the platform is now serving 1.3 billion real-time streams per month on behalf of prominent media, publishing and entertainment brands that include Showtime, Reuters, USA Networks, Universal Music Group, World Wrestling Entertainment and The Washington Post. During the same time period, the company has grown its customer base by a healthy 56% and revenues continue to climb, with Echo boasting a 160% lift in revenues over February 2011.

Echo StreamServer enables brands to integrate the same real-time functionality that consumers have come to expect from social networks into their branded websites and cross-channel user experiences. Brands can choose from over 20 real-time applications offered by Echo and developers can rapidly build and implement new applications that leverage the open platform. This flexibility makes the platform especially popular with brands looking to expand into hot emerging categories like social TV, social news, social sports, social music and social commerce.

“Leading media, entertainment and publishing companies are realizing that they must evolve their business models to embrace real-time consumer engagement,” said Khris Loux, CEO of Echo. “Echo is the only platform that provides an end-to-end solution that integrates real-time, social functionality across the entire user experience. That’s why three of the top four social TV brands as reported by AdAge are Echo customers.”

Rather than attempting to integrate a number of different point solutions, Echo’s customers benefit from a holistic approach that enables them to leverage everything from real-time comments and forums to second screen experiences and live, social events through a single platform. This strategy is paying off handsomely for Echo’s customers, 25% of which are serving over 1 million real-time streams per month.

“Utilizing Echo’s technology, we made USA Character Chatter an engaging community destination with real time interaction between our fans, show producers, writers and stars," said Jesse Redniss, SVP, Digital for USA Networks. "Chatter is a key component of our social TV strategy and working with partners like Echo will ensure we can continue to provide cutting-edge experiences designed to extend our brand and content offerings to all of our viewers."

Other Echo customers share similar success stories. Harvard’s Neiman Journalism Lab recently profiled The Washington Post in an article that cited a 142% increase in user comments since implementing Echo’s real-time web platform.

Echo StreamServer can absorb over 1,000 social activities per second and simultaneously transform those items into a configurable, interactive stream that the brand can build into their user experience. Designed to support large enterprises, the cloud-based solution can scale to support peak bursts of traffic and currently has over 14 million consumer end-users.
